Girl in the Castle by Lizzie Lamb

Lizzie Lamb knows how to tell a good tale and her mix of romance and adventure surrounded in a scottish setting is the perfect place to meet a wonderful bunch of characters and with a picturesque flow of words that flourish and flow off the pages, the reader is transported right into each and every scene. 

 

Scotch on the Rocks by Lizzie Lamb

When your fiancé is found in a compromising position, just as you are dealt with the death of your father, there is only one thing to do, head home and back to the place you belong, and this is exactly what Ishabel Stuart does. Returning and escaping to the scenic, scottish highlands and the small island of Eilean na Sgairbh and back into the safety of her family home, a guest house run by her aunt. Issy is ready to stand on her own two feet and leave love behind and make something of her life alone.

At the bed and breakfast she is surprised to find an American guest called Brodie occupying her room. Issy takes an instant dislike to him and the more she sees him the more she questions his reasons for his visit. Issy has the intense feeling he wants something from her, but if this is so, just how much would she be willing to give?

I really enjoy Lizzie Lamb's books, she never disappoints, there is always a thrilling storyline with a fine romance, keeping you intrigued and hooked all the way through the book. As always there are some cracking characters and a pet parrot provides comedy and humorous moments throughout the story. I am happy to hear another book is in the pipeline from Lizzie, so I don’t have to wait too long for my next fix.

Boot Camp Bride by Lizzie Lamb

Ambitious rookie reporter Charlee Montague is looking for her big break in journalism. Handsome award winning photographer Rafael Ffinch may be her chance to achieve her dreams of becoming a top hack, when he offers her the chance to work undercover posing as his fiancée at a boot camp for brides. Incognito as a bride to be so they can take photos of the supermodel Anastasia Markova.

Not long into their assignment Charlee begins to have her doubts about Ffinch, and why he would need a rookie like her to accompany him?  What is the real reason behind their mission? Charlee suspects he has a dark secret he may be keeping from her and wonders if it is connected with when he was kidnapped in Columbia.

In her search to find out the truth Charlee finds adventure, danger, romance and a VW Campervan awaits her!

I really enjoyed Lizzie’s first book Tall Dark and Kilted and I was really looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed. This book reminded me just a touch of one of my favourite films romancing the Stone. You know the Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner one? The writing in this book is equally as good as the script to that film and the characters as likeable.   So I really enjoyed the storyline and this book is going in my top ten reads.

Tall Dark and Kilted by Lizzie Lamb

When Fliss Bagshawe loses her job as an holistic therapist after attending a party in Notting Hill that gets out of control, she thinks that her chance of running her own therapy business are over, until she is given a once in a lifetime opportunity to run a therapy centre, five hundred miles away in Scotland. Happy to leave her life behind in Pimlico she heads for the Scottish Highlands.

However after a chance meeting with the handsome but brooding Laird of Kinloch Mara, Ruairi Urquhart, Fliss finds that her dreams and plans could be over. Ruairi takes his responsibilities as Laird very seriously and thanks to an earlier misunderstanding when they first met Ruairi thinks that Fliss is no more than a scheming opportunist out for all she can get.

Fliss must take on the Laird and his eccentric family to convince them that she is passionate and determined and committed to make the therapy centre a success, before Ruairi puts a stop to her dreams before she can turn them into reality and she finds herself unemployed and back in London; two people from completely different backgrounds. The Laird is set in his ways and stubborn. Will Fliss be able to convince him that she is not what he thinks she is?

With enough sparks to set off fireworks, this is a fabulous romance story from author Lizzie Lamb. A fun and entertaining read from page one, engaging the reader straight away into the story that is written with excellent wit and humour that will make you smile. A cast of lively and thoroughly good fun characters that are so likable that some could have their own spin off stories. I loved everything about this book from the beautiful colour purple of the cover and the catchy title, to the escapism of getting lost in this great book for a few hours.  I look forward to reading more books by Lizzie Lamb.
